The Community Gathering Space at 38 The Parade brings people together around food growing, practical learning and care for place.
Located at the roadside edge of Seed to Sea, it creates a visible and accessible meeting point between the garden and the wider Island Bay neighbourhood. It is used for Local Kai gatherings, garden visits, workshops, seasonal activities and informal conversations.
Produce, seedlings, seeds, ideas and experiences can all be shared here. Some exchanges are planned, while others begin with someone passing the garden, stopping for a conversation or becoming curious about what is growing.
The space shows that community is not separate from the productive garden. Relationships, trust and shared knowledge help the garden’s ideas travel beyond the property and become part of a stronger local food culture.
